Kiwi like water. We found out that sometimes they like to swim in water. We thought they didn't like water. On our 'Y' chart we put that they didn't like water. We had to take that sentence off he wall and change it so it said that they do like water.
We have learnt that they have a claw in their wing. We added that information to our 'Y' chart.
We know that kiwi are nocturnal. Nocturnal means don't sleep at night but sleep in the daytime. They go fishing and searching for food at night.
They have two holes on the end of their bill that are called nostrils. They put their beak in the ground and they sniff for food. They snuffle and snort to get the dirt out of their nostrils.
Kiwi are endangered. That means that aren't many kiwi left. There are predators that eat them and their eggs. Some of the predators are stoats, dogs, cats, weasels, rats, possums and ferrets.
They are kept safe by people from the Department of Conservation and in some places they build big fences around where they live to keep out the predators.
We are learning heaps!
